Social Services The Township of Montville provides a variety of social services to our residents with an emphasis on senior citizens, youth and the needy. These services are provided through several municipal offices and also various volunteer boards and committees. With the new expansion of the Montville Senior House, the number and variety of programs, activities and events provided for senior citizens has increased dramatically. (For a schedule of activities, click on the Senior Center Calendar link provided above.)
The Senior Nutrition Program provides hot lunches for approximately 150 seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A donation of $1.50 per meal is suggested. Additionally, another 75 hot Meals-on-Wheels are delivered to homebound seniors through the Nutrition Program.
Weekly programs include classes in art, knitting, aerobics, Tai Chi, Line Dancing and Square Dancing.
Bingo, mah-jongg, bridge, poker and Pokeno games are scheduled on a weekly basis. Monthly birthday breakfasts are held.
Special celebrations have included a Ballroom Dance, an Anniversary Party, a Halloween party, a Polka Fest, a Victorian Recital, a Thanksgiving party, a Christmas party and a Chinese New Year’s cultural awareness day.
Blood sugar, blood pressure screenings, flu shots and health seminars are also offered at the Senior House with hundreds of participants.
Senior bus trips are provided on a regular basis. Youth Services

The Youth Services Coordinator is responsible for providing youth programs under the direction of the Director of Social Services. Many of these program are offered at the Youth Center. The Coordinator also serves as a member of the Drug Awareness/Municipal Alliance Council and is involved in such programs include Project Graduation, Anti-Vandalism, Project Promotion and REACH. Extensive outreach work is performed in cooperation with the Board of Education.
The Montville Township Youth Center was completed in 2003. It is located in Community Park on Changebridge Road. The goal of the Youth Center is to provide a supervised environment free of violence, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs for youth to participate in activities and interact with each other. Within the building are a big screen television, ping-pong table, computer lab, quiet rooms, and a well-trained and responsible staff. Many activities are available from non-structured ‘Drop-In’ time to scheduled programs where participants are asked to register in advance.
The building is currently open Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 8 PM daily. Youth 11 years old and up are asked to have a parent/guardian complete an emergency card and to sign themselves in and out when they attend the Center. Children who are under the age of 11 are asked to be accompanied by a parent when they ‘Drop-In’ to the Youth Center.
